  • What is the Instructors Experience?
    Our Instructor has 3 decades of trianing Jiu-Jitsu and over 4 decades of martial arts training.
  • How many days a week should I train?
    On average 3 days a week is good. Four days is optimal and 5 & 6 days is best for the very serious. Remember, everyones goals are differant.
  • What are the pre requirements to start training Jiu-Jitsu?
    The most important pre requirement is to show up. It doesn’t matter what physical shape you’re in, as long as you have the desire to learn.
  • I'm not as young as I used to be, is it too late for me to start?
    Anyone can benefit from training Jiu-Jitsu. Your never too old to start. Jiu-Jitsu is truly a martial art for everyone and there is a thriving community of senior practitioners. We tailor our teaching to the individual and it's an art you can take at your own pace. At Zen Jiu-Jitsu our oldest student is a purple belt 68 years young.
  • Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu good for self-defense?
    Jiu-Jitsu is not just fought on the ground. Jiu-Jitsu contains many applications that can be applied while standing. At Zen Jiu-Jitsu we teach real life application.
  • BJJ seems to be a very male orientated sport, can a women train Jiu Jitsu?
    Absolutely, at first glance it can seem like Jiu-Jitsu is male dominated, but in fact, women's Jiu-Jitsu is growing in popularity and both male and females of all ages are welcomed into our team. We have created a very diverse environment to train in.
  • Is it safe for my child to train Jiu-Jitsu?
    We have one of the best teams for children in the area. We focus on disciple, self control & positive behavior to help our young ones develop mental strength and become productive young people.
